Our company originally called Thanh Tai Fertilizer Company (Thataco) was established in 1973. After The Southern Liberation Day in 1975, Thataco changed to state management and was renamed Binh Dien Fertilizer Factory II, part of The Southern Fertilizer Company in 1976. In accordance with the company’s development and satisfy market demands, in 2003, the Minister of the now Ministry of Industry and Trade gave the resolution no. 73/2003/QD-BCN to change Binh Dien Fertilizer Factory II, belonging to The Southern Fertilizer Company to Binh Dien Fertilizer Company, a member of The Vietnam Chemical Corporation (now The Vietnam National Chemical Group - Vinachem). The company became a joint stock company in 2011.

From a small fertilizer business unit with limited capital and primitive machinery, the company has trained people, ceaselessly researched, renovated its technology and equipment, developed products and expanded markets for manufacture of high quality and advanced NPK products which have been highly effective for customers. Dau Trau Fertilizer nowadays is nationally popular and has become indispensable to farmers in many regions.

Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company has become the leader in NPK production and significantly contributed to Vietnamese agriculture and rural development.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

1. Research to renovate technical processing and equipment machinery:

To keep the high quality leading position of Dau Trau products, the company has been constantly researching and renovating equipment and machinery which now manufactures the best products and complies with labor safety and environment protection.

The application of suitable support matters has helped Dau Trau fertilizers achieve high and stable quality with less being curdled, crushed and mostly desiccated. Depended on each crop, our products are quick or slow nutrition releasing in order to improve usage and limit waste fertilizer related pollution.

2. Product research and development:

With the effectiveness of fertilizer depending on soil type, plant properties, compositions and features of the products, the company has focused on research into soil nature, plants nutrition ingredients and improving each product. This is accompanied by fieldtrialsformarketingmoreefficientproductsforplants.

In the recent years, the company has teamed with the institutes, research centers, universities, research station areas, provincial agricultural expansion centers and scientists from inside and outside the country to carry out tens of large scale research projects, hundreds of tests and thousands of experimentsoffertilizeronmostsoilsandcropsVietnamandabroad. With The Technical and Scientific Advisory Board including leading experts in soil, plants and fertilizers, the research has resulted in manufacturing tens of specialized Dau Trau fertilizers with macro, secondary and micro nutrients appropriate for each stage of growth and development of each plant in each region. The efficiency and suitability of each product is our secret to achieve effectiveness of Dau Trau fertilizer than other brands.

The company’s main products: NPK, NPK+TE, specialized fertilizer, organic fertilizer (organic and bio-organic fertilizers), leaf fertilizers and bio-insecticide are now setting a new trend with their effective and indispensable uses, compatible with advanced agriculture.

The company’s achievements are now based on investment for research and new products. The Dau Trau Golden N 46A+, and Dau Trau NPK+ Agrotain fertilizers are the results of a combination of research between Binh Dien and The U.S scientists which have increased profits for farmers. The production and market launch of The Dau Trau + Agrotain product has saved farmers 20%-30% of fertilizer, nearly 200 bil. Dong/year. This also increases capacity and quality of crops and contributes to a decrease in pollution.

DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

Up to now, the company distribution system has nationwide cover and is also in Laos, Cambodia and Thailand. Over 200 wholesale points are grade I agents and over 2,500 retail points are grade II agents, farms, co-operatives and farmers’ unions. With the large distribution system, the company can supply timely fertilizer and insecticide to farmers in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand.

Farmers can buy our products at a reasonable cost at any agent or at the company.

To better serve and inform farmers, the company annually organizes training courses and accredits to agents in the distribution system the certificate of “Professional Dau Trau fertilizer agent”. On these courses, agents learn about customer service and marketing as well as fertilizers and plants so as to give effective product usage advice.

SOCIAL AND LIVING ACTIVITIES

In addition to production and business activities, we always involve ourselves to social and community responsibilities. We support the improvement of cultivation standards for farmers, share our experience and help farmers to use fertilizer effectively. Each year, the company spends tens of billion of VND for programs to reduce poverty and support farmers especially who were affected by natural disasters. We also help local authorities for school and charity house construction such as the "Binh Dien homes" for poor farmers in the country and scholarship funds to poor and disabled children. We also contribute to HCMC workers funds, support many villages (minority) in their economic, cultural and social development and give support to many mothers of Vietnam heroes.

Remarkably, the company has built up The VTV- Binh Dien female volleyball team (forerunner was The Long An Knitting team) to become a strong national team from which many national team players are drawn.

PROMOTION AND CUSTOMER SUPPORT

Fertilizer is a technical material, thus, to use it effectively, the user must understand it. To make profits from agricultural products, farmers require some scientific knowledge about them. To promote this awareness, the company tries to improve farmers’ knowledge of soil, fertilizer and plants physiologies.

We are convinced that whenever farmers use intensive farming products effectively, the company completes its responsibilities. Thus we always take care in serving the customer before, during, and after sales. Before bringing products to new markets, we organize training schedules for farmers in agriculture technical, fertilizer usage and insecticides. We always consult customers to choose the most suitable products for each kind of plant in each bio-region. Also, we regularly follow up and consult with farmers after training.

In the recent years, the company has invested tens of billion of Dong for training, performance, seminars for farmers on subjects such as farming experience and fertilizer and insecticide usage as well as organizing trips for well-trained farmers to visit and gain experience in Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Moreover, the company published and gave thousands of fertilizer user’s books, guides, leaflets, flyers and The Binh Dien news-letters to farmers. The company also gives assistance in matters concerning farming technologies via phone, email and personal letters to help farmers achieving better crops at good prices.

Last but not least, alone and in co-operation with The Central of Vietnam Farmers’ Union, Vietnam Television, Vietnam Radio, local television and radio stations, organized and sponsored many programs and competitions. These include “Agricultural knowledge learning”, “Farmer skills outdo”, “Farmers’ camp”, “Fertilizer and farmers”. “Enrich with Dau Trau”, “Enrich with farmers” and “Farmers got talent”. Through these practical competitions and programs, farmers consolidate their knowledge and skills to apply in production and enrich their quality of life.

MANPOWER TRAINING

The company leaders recognize that people are the key factor in promoting development and empowerment in business. Therefore, our company has its own program for training and retraining. So far we have 4% of staff in higher-education, over 20% achieving university or college degrees, and 30% at intermediate and advanced technical level qualifications.

The company has policies to attract talent by recruiting carefully for each position and offering a reasonable salary. The excellent staff recruited through applying these policies have been creating more ideas and taking more initiatives which have contributed to new successful business trends for the company.

The company has regularly strengthened and consolidated the structure, relocated indirect staff from subsidiaries to the head office, implemented planning and standardization officers, annually made staff appraisals and evaluations so that management has become more effective and the productivity has risen (7.6 times than 1991).
